Wah Yan Dramatic Society to raise fund for SDP
The Wah Yan Dramatic Society will be putting on another performance of A Lizard is No Dragon in aid of the School Development Project of WYCHK.  This is one of the favourite performances of the Society which has been staged twice in Hong Kong and once in Vancouver in the recent past.  The performance will be held on 22 and 23 October at the Drama Theatre of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.  The Society is aiming to have more students and young members involved this time round so as to generate more interest in this art form in the younger generation." Design study for new School Hall
The design study for the new School Hall (Phase III of SDP) recently presented by AGC Design Ltd in collaboration with AD+RG Architecture Design & Research Group Ltd suggests a multi-purpose school hall located on the first floor that is
large enough to accommodate the whole school in an assembly or used as a competition size indoor basketball court. The spacious entrance lobby on the ground floor doubles as a covered playground on rainy days. It can also be converted into three extra classrooms to make a total of five classrooms on the same floor together with two permanent ones. Four more classrooms on the fourth floor help to meet the hardware requirements for small class teaching. The learning environment for these classrooms is much enhanced by a roof garden overlooking the lawn and the old teaching block. The fifth floor at the top features a lecture theatre that, when properly fitted out, will raise the standards of our school's facilities tremendously.
Slope stabilization will need to be completed prior to the commencement of construction. A redevelopment time table will be announced at a later stage. Meanwhile, please download and view Presentation Drawings (3.8 Mb PowerPoint) for a better understanding of the project.
We are still $44 million short. So please continue to make donation to SDP!

Official Opening Ceremony - 21 Jan 2006

SIP Annex finally handed over to the College - 26 Aug 2005
On 19th August, 2005, the Annex was officially handed over to the Contractor and then to the Principal and Mr. Wong Yui Tak on behalf of the School. The ceremony was also graced by representatives from the Education and Manpower Bureau, the Architectural Services Department as well as the various consultants of the SIP.

The SIP is a wonderful result of tight cooperation amongst all friends of Wah Yan, especially the alumni, parents and students. Of course professional inputs from the staff and the Consultant Team were most invaluable. So good were they, we were in fact 13 days ahead of schedule in completion, a very rare happening for this kind of project development.

This also marks the completion of SDP Phase I & II, bringing Wah Yan into compliance with EMB’s Y2K Campus Standard. Now, let's work hand in hand (hyperlink to the 3 donation forms towards the end of that section) for the remaining Phase III, the redevelopment of the Hall, with preliminary ground-setting works already started with the assistance of our consultants. Anyway, share our joy for this official handover at the school's photo link.

Men at work !.....plus 1 lady of course. Don't they all look good in hard hats rather than with face masks? Today in a fun filled atmosphere, the first piece of breaking, and thus commencement of construction for the SDP, took place. About 100 guests witnessed the ceremony and joined forces in wishing the best for the SDP. They all went home with a piece of small treasure - a piece of the roof slabs pasted on a piece of wood made from our old classroom desks.
